skin care: what i use on my face & body.

Truth: we are what we eat. BUT, we are also what we put on our skin. Much of what our beloved epidermis comes in contact with is then absorbed into the bloodstream—the toxins in the air and the contents of our body wash. Therefore, it’s super important to apply natural, chemical free products to our skin when possible. Most lotions, moisturizers, and face washes you find at the drugstore contain harmful ingredients like parabens, chemicals that can cause allergic reactions and immune issues. Plus, it’s just not natural!

That’s why I choose skin care products I know will nourish my skin properly and NOT create any unneeded toxicity inside my body. Everything I use is free of parabens, sulphates, petrolatum, synthetic dyes and fragrances. I also like to make sure they haven’t been tested on animals because that’s just not nice…bunnies deserve to live with their other bunny friends, not cooped up in a cage testing out chemical-laden mascara.

I digress. Here are just a few of my favorites that I always have in my medicine cabinet.

John Masters Organics Rose Foaming Facewash
This is a very mild cleanser with only 7 ingredients. It smells amazing because it contains rose flower extract which is a scent that naturally boosts your mood and confidence, believe it or not!

REN Evercalm Day Cream
This is a light, creamy moisturizer that I use day and night. It’s formula is made more sensitive skin. There are lots of ingredients in this one, but they’re mostly flower extracts and oils. It also has a nice rose scent.

REN Satin Perfect BB Cream
I love this stuff! It’s the perfect tinted moisturizer to give your skin an even glow. I use it instead of liquid makeup, which I hate. Plus it has SPF 15. It’s free of all the toxins I listed above and it smells nice too!

Banyan Botanicals Neem Oil
Ah, Neem Oil. I fell in love with this product years ago when my skin was feeling itchy and irritated during winter months. This oil has kept my skin supple and moisturized on even the coldest of days. Plus, Neem itself is an herb that supports your skin’s immunity against microbes, so it works double duty.

Parvati Fragrance Oil
Most perfumes contain alcohol which can be drying to the skin. This vanilla almond oil rolls right on your skin sans alcohol and smells great. The scent itself promotes calmness and can help ease anxiety.

Nubian Heritage Shea Butter, Goats Milk & Chai
This smells incredible! Not only is shea butter incredibly moisturizing, but the goats milk and chai make this the most delicious hand or body lotion on the planet. Nubian is an awesome organization and they use 98% organic ingredients in all of their products.

S.W. Basics Lip Balm
This organic lip balm is also decadent. It’s made with only four ingredients: coconut butter, extra virgin coconut oil, beeswax, and essential oils (either peppermint, lemon, or cinnamon).

If you’re on the hunt for some great products, I highly recommend trying one of these out. I’ve been using them for years. Was this post helpful? Comment and let me know 🙂
