my sakara life review.
If you haven’t noticed, there are tons of food subscription services popping up all over the place. No longer do we need to visit the grocery story or make a mess in the kitchen to have a fresh, delicious, healthy meal.
In my mind, this trend started with Blue Apron–the dinner recipe and ingredient delivery service that makes it so easy to create perfectly proportioned meals whether you’re eating solo or hosting a group. Personally, I’ve never tried them out, but I’ve heard it’s pretty life-changing.
Then, entered one of my favorite brands: Farmivore. Because of them, juicing no longer involves the daunting task of finding a recipe, gathering ingredients, and guessing how much you should make. For $39.95 per juice kit, you not only get 4 delicious recipes, but over 10lbs of organic produce, most of which is locally sourced.
My latest healthy food obsession, however, is SAKARA LIFE. Founded by two gorgeous, brilliant blonds (Danielle DuBoise and Whitney Tingle), Sakara offers an incredibly chic and delicious meal and weight loss program.
Often, when we hear “weight loss program” Jenny Craig comes to mind and it in no way feels sexy. Well, Danielle and Whitney’s brand is the sexiest there is. Models, celebrities, and successful professionals are hooked on the luscious vegetarian meals made for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The program is based on a whole food, plant-rich diet that is made with the highest quality vegetables, grains, and good fats. But what makes it incredibly unique is that there is zero focus on calories, in fact calorie-counting is not allowed.
Sakara was founded on the idea that true health means you’re making the right choices for your body because you want to, not because you have to.
With Sakara, eating food feels beautiful and we are compelled to be present to not only the food itself, but it’s benefits. I had the pleasure of winning a one-day trial where I received breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was so thrilled to finally have the opportunity to savor what I’d been hearing rave reviews about.
On Monday, my delivery arrived at 6:12 am. These days, I don’t get out of bed until 7:30 am, so my buzzer jolted me out of a deep sleep. The delivery guy kindly dropped the bag at my door so I didn’t have to expose him to my bed head and exhaustion. I put all three meals in the fridge and went back to sleep. I had been feeling super under the weather–cough, headache, fatigue–so I was hoping eating pure Sakara food would bring me back to life.
Enter breakfast. I enjoyed the Sakara Breakfast Sandwich, first thing. It was homemade chia bread topped with a mixture of chickpeas, broccoli, turmeric dressing, and radishes. I ate every single bite and felt incredibly satisfied. In between meals, I drank their detox tea, a blend of herbs, flower petals, and spices. Delicious.
For lunch, I feasted on a giant Winter Greens Flax Salad with Spicy Mustard Dressing. This was my FAVORITE. Lacinato kale, white beans, and an insane flax seed concoction. It felt so good to eat such an inventive meal and I’m not kidding when I say it really did feel like someone made it with love–this is the magical part.
Since lunch was so filling (in a good way), I didn’t eat dinner until 5 hours later. As I pulled out my last box of the day, it felt bittersweet. I was excited to dive in, but sad for it to end. Most of all, I was feeling clean from the inside out and I could tell my immune system was getting a much needed boost. Dinner was fresh Chickpea Dosa with a Roasted Vegetable Medley over greens. The dressing on this one was to-die-for. The medley included spinach and roasted potatoes, both of which were incredibly flavorful.
I now know why so many people are obsessed with Sakara. Not only does it taste so incredibly good, but you know you’re eating the very best thing for your body. Plus, you don’t have to worry about grocery shopping, preparation, or cooking–three things that tend to hinder eating a clean, nutrient-rich diet. If you’re someone who hates to cook, or you’re too busy with life to even think about eating healthy, you must try out Sakara. I promise you won’t regret it.
