how I grew a thriving business in just 2 years
Hello, world!!! I am back to writing on this here blog and cannot wait to give all of you valuable insights into leading a life completely aligned with your truth, your dreams, and most importantly, with what feels good. Although my work is very much focused on branding, writing, and taking photos (all of which I will be sharing more about),I want my website to be a destination that inspires you to keep going after what you want to create in life.
You see, the biggest lesson I’ve learned over the past two years of entrepreneur-ing is that mindset is uber important to your success. You’ve got to stay positive. You’ve got to surround yourself with people who believe in you. And you’ve got to take care of yourself. Working for yourself may seem like a dream come true and in many moments it feels that way, but it’s also really hard sometimes.
It’s hard to work alone.
It’s hard when the chorus of steady clients suddenly turns into crickets.
And it’s freaking annoying as hell to manage your finances.
Keeping up a healthy mindset and connecting with other lady bosses has been the most effective way to keep my eye on the prize and pull myself out of any negative-Nancy stuff. Also, self-care, self-care, self-care. The days that I meditate, make a smoothie, and set my intentions for the day–vs. the ones where I hop out of bed and right onto my laptop–are always much more productive, centered, and empowering.
The world needs you to keep heeding the call to do what lights you up like a kid on Christmas morning. And we might as well help each other along the way, right?
So at this point you may be wondering why I’ve decide to blog again. Well, it brings me so much joy to write this, but I am officially a full-time entrepreneur. For the past year and a half, I worked 2 days a week health coaching at Parsley Health, a functional medicine practice in NYC. It was the perfect way to do something I loved, have a consistent income to cover my rent, and grow my branding & copywriting business all at the same time.
For the first year, I was able to manage everything together. I did my writing and client calls on Mondays and Tuesdays, health coached on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and met with other clients on Fridays. But then around February this year, business started booming. And it was really all I wanted to focus on. Needless to say, while I was feeling pulled to do my own thing 100% of the time, I wasn’t feeling ready to leave Parsley. It was such an amazing gig and I questioned whether that would be a smart move.
So, I decided to ride it out and trust that the answer would become clear on it’s own. And it did.
Potential clients kept contacting me. New clients kept signing contracts. And financially, my projections through the summer were strong, plenty to live off of sans Parsley income. When I realized that everything had completely lined up, I knew it was time to give my notice. So I did it, left on the most perfect of terms, and could not be more grateful for the time spent working with Dr. Robin Berzin, Jackie Damborgian, Klara Mudge, Lily Kunin, and Lianne Ramhdany. Seeing their beautiful faces every week is something I will miss, but there is no doubt I’ll visit often 🙂
Tomorrow marks my first official day being solo and I am so pumped for all of the projects coming up. To keep me feeling connected to other entrepreneurs in the wellness industry, I joined a co-working space called Primary. It feels pretty cool to be able to do that for myself and I can’t wait to meet future friends, colleagues, and clients there. If you haven’t heard of it yet, check them out here!
Ok, so now I would love love love to hear from you. What do you want me to write about? What would be helpful for you? What is your biggest challenge? Leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to cover that topic soon.
Honey good luck with your new business all my love Daddy
